Hållbarhetsklivet is West Sweden’s collective initiative for a sustainable tourism industry. We at Marstrands Kurhotell are actively working to create a more sustainable environment and through continuous improvements you can read about our concrete ways of working to achieve this.
On the Tourist Board West Sweden’s website you can read more about sustainability.
By using electric vehicles when picking up guests and their luggage, we keep down unnecessary CO2 emissions which in turn have a strong impact on the climate. We also refer to municipal transport for guests traveling from Gothenburg and elsewhere. All deliveries to the hotel are dropped off at the consolidation center. This way we consolidate deliveries to the island and less transportation is required.
By trading and cooperating with local entrepreneurs, business activities on Marstrand benefit.
Staff who work with us have good knowledge of the area and the majority live in Marstrand, which means that transportation is kept down.
We create conditions for islanders to be able to exercise on the island and our gym instead of having to go to the mainland.
Our ambition is to keep the hotel open all year round. We plan and work with relevant targets that allow us to stay open even during the off-season. These objectives can include, for example, organizing seasonal events, weddings and business meetings. We also take preventive measures during high season to be able to manage over-tourism with modern booking system that does not allow online booking too close to arrival date.
By organizing events and keeping the hotel open all year round, we create the conditions for more full-time jobs. When the high season is approaching, we are supplementing with seasonal staff.
